I love that it’s been in our family for as long as it has, but I didn’t love the original wood color. Not that there was anything wrong with it, just didn’t look very happy, so I decided to give it a cheery makeover. However, I did think it was best to honor it’s age with a slightly distressed look.
I started with Old White, then dry brushed a little Aubusson, and finished with Duck Egg. I gave it a light sanding, and plan to apply a clear wax to protect the paint. I really like how it turned out, but more importantly…my son likes it, and that’s what really counts.
